Gay Hunt – Founder
Gay Hunt was born in 1927 in Hollywood, CA. In 1965 she visited and subsequently fell in love with Marin County. After working as a waitress in Marin County for 35 years Gay decided to pursue her passion for helping animals by purchasing Pet Cottage.
She became a tireless advocate for dogs and cats and worked side by side with her daughter Sandie until her passing in 2010. Gay is best remembered as being the cornerstone of the shop that deeply cared for the community of pet owners in Marin County (as well as their canine and feline companions).
Sandie McCall – Owner
Born and raised in Marin, Sandie has had a lifelong love affair with helping animals. Working side by side with her mother Sandie has striven to bring the most nutritious products to pets in Marin and beyond. Her proudest achievement as the owner of Pet Cottage is changing the wellness of dogs and cats.
Her charity work includes running adoption clinics. In 2009 Southern Animal Foundation partnered with Sandie to help find homes for displaced animals after hurricane Katrina. Over 300 pets were rescued and adopted thanks to her tireless work. In her personal life Sandie is the proud “mom” to 5 dogs, 7 cats, and 1 bird.
Casey Coo – CIO
Casey was the Pet Cottage mascot for over five years. This little blue Chihuahua stole the heart of every person who came into the store. Although Casey is now in doggie heaven she is a constant reminder of the unique connection between animals and their people.
It’s for inspirational animals like this that we continue our mission to improve the lives of dogs and cats and that’s why Casey truly is our Chief Inspiration Officer.

Our dedicated staff is educated in a variety of disciplines including holistic approach, organic products, and raw food for pets.
Their mission is to provide the best customer service while educating pet owners on what is really in the foods on the market today. We will take the time to research any question whether pet nutrition, wellness, or simply sharing stories. Our outstanding team includes: Lynne Nance and Katie Rogers along with Summer, Gretchen, Makenna and Matt* — they are always on hand to help!
